1
What is the purpose of the free initial telephone consultation?
The free initial telephone consultation serves two key purposes. First, it allows us to gain an overview of the difficulties you're experiencing. Second, it helps us determine if we are the best fit for your needs. It's a chance for us to briefly connect with you and ensure we're on the right path towards your well-being.
2
Where are your sessions provided?
Currently, sessions are conducted online, in person or on the phone.
3
Do you have evening and weekend appointments?
Our regular appointments do not typically include evenings or weekends. However, some clinicians may be open to accommodating evening or weekend sessions when necessary to meet their needs. Please discuss your availability with the consulting Psychologist.
4
How often are therapy appointments recommended?
The frequency of therapy appointments varies depending on the individual and the nature of the issue. Typically, most clients have one session per week. Session lengths may vary among therapists but are usually around 30-45 minutes (ours are 50 minutes).
5
How do I select the best package for me?
During our initial consultation, we aim to gain a deep understanding of your current difficulties and determine the most suitable package for you. We'll explore and discuss the available packages based on their relevance to your needs. In some cases, we might even combine packages to align with your therapy goals.
6
What happens if I cancel my session?
Abantu Therapy operates on a 48-hour working day cancellation policy. Sessions cancelled with less than 48-hours notice will be charged at the full rate. If you provide more than 48 hours' notice, you'll have the option to reschedule. Please note that if you're under the influence of drugs or alcohol during a session, your therapist may need to terminate the session early, and you would still be charged the full session price.
7
Is the information discussed in psychotherapy confidential?
Confidentiality is a vital aspect of psychotherapy. Your communication with a psychologist is protected by law. However, there are exceptions, such as if you pose a risk to yourself or others or have experienced child abuse. We will always aim to discuss any concerns about confidentiality with you whenever possible.
